Extraordinary general meeting of the BDEAC

Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in Douala (Cameroon), the Shareholders of this Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC), under the presidency of Mr. Fortunato-Ofa Mbo Nchama, Minister of Finance and Budget of Equatorial Guinea , current Chairman of the Board of Directors, unanimously reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the Reforms undertaken as part of the 2023-2027 “Azobé” Strategic Plan. They welcomed this reform which, according to them, strengthens the regulatory corpus which evolved significantly during the 2023 financial year.

BEAC Board of Directors

Monday, December 18, 2023, at the (BEAC) Agency in Douala (Cameroon), the last ordinary Board of Directors of this financial institution of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) was held, for the year 2023. This session also marked the end of the mandate of the Republic of Congo as rotating chairman of the Board of Directors of this Central Bank common to the six States, namely Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Chad.

National Economic and Financial Committee (CNEF) Congo

The National Economic and Financial Committee met in ordinary session, Friday, November 24, 2023, at the headquarters of the National Directorate of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) in Brazzaville, under the chairmanship of Mr. Jean-Baptiste Ondaye, Minister of Economy and Finance. This session was attended by Ms. Ingrid Olga Ghislaine Ebouka-Babackas, Minister of Planning, Statistics and Regional Integration; of MM. Ludovic Ngatsé, Minister of Budget, Public Accounts and Public Portfolio, Mr. Michel Dzombala, Vice-Governor of the BEAC, and Marcel Ondelé, Deputy Secretary General of the Central African Banking Commission (COBAC).

Governance and Economic Diversification Support Program (PAGDE) - Phase 1

Thursday, November 23, 2023 in Brazzaville, Mr. Jean-Baptiste Ondaye, Congolese Minister of Economy and Finance, signed a loan agreement of 92 million Euros (or approximately 60 billion CFA francs) with the African Bank of Development (AfDB), represented by its Deputy Director General for Central Africa, Mr. Solomane Kone.

Closing of the IMF technical mission to Brazzaville

Thursday, November 2, 2023 in Brazzaville, Jean-Baptiste Ondaye, Congolese Minister of Economy and Finance, received the end of technical mission report from the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by the Togolese Roland Kpodar. This mission spent 14 days in Congo, to finalize the collection of data relating to the fourth review of the Program supported by the Extended Credit Facility (ECF), signed in January 2022.

Opening of the CEMAC International Investor Week (SIIC) in Brazzaville

Brazzaville, capital of the Republic of Congo, is hosting, for the first time, the CEMAC (Central African Economic and Monetary Community-SIIC) International Investor Week. This meeting, which is in its third edition, takes place from Thursday October 5 to Saturday October 7, 2023. The work was opened, Friday October 6, by Jean-Baptiste Ondaye, Congolese Minister of Economy and Finance, having to alongside Jacqueline Adiaba-Nkembé, President of the Central African Financial Market Supervisory Commission (COSUMAF).

Central African Monetary Union (UMAC)

Meeting in ordinary session, Wednesday October 4, 2023 in Douala (Republic of Cameroon), under the Chairmanship of Jean-Baptiste Ondaye, Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Congo, the Ministerial Committee of the Monetary Union of the Central Africa (UMAC), adopted the Regulations relating to the approval of the standards of the QR Code, the Bill of Exchange and the Direct Debit as well as the 2022 Report of the Financial Stability Committee in Central Africa (CSF-AC).

12th Statutory Plenary of GABAC in Brazzaville

Saturday September 30, 2023 in Brazzaville, Jean-Baptiste Ondaye, Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Congo and current President of the Action Group against Money Laundering in Central Africa (GABAC), sponsored the work of the 12th Statutory Plenary of the said Group. In the presence, in particular, of his peers in charge of Finance, Justice and Security of the member countries of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), member country associate, as well as the Permanent Secretary of GABAC, the Congolese André Kanga.
