Symbolic handover ceremony of NIU cards to students registered in Congo

Wednesday March 6, 2024 in Brazzaville, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Jean-Baptiste ONDAYE, officially handed over a sample of Unique Identification Number (NIU) cards to the Minister of Higher Education, scientific research and technological innovation, Madame Edith Delphine EMMANUEL née ADOUKI. 

In total, 40,501 students are beneficiaries, out of 62,231 who were initially expected. 

On the occasion of this ceremony, the Coordinator of the NIU project, Mr. Roger Aymar ANDELY, in his speech, recalled the three phases of the biometric enrollment operation of students for the allocation of the unique identification number. 

The first phase concerned Brazzaville where the operation took place from Monday December 4, 2023 to Friday February 16, 2024. 32 thousand 553 students enrolled out of 47 thousand 689 expected. 

The second phase took place in Pointe-Noire from Wednesday 03 to Tuesday 23 January 2024. 7 thousand 948 students enrolled out of 14 thousand 542 expected. 

The third and final phase will have to be initiated in the near future. It will be dedicated to Congolese students abroad. 

“To date, the two phases of the operation have made it possible to enlist 40,501. This represents a number of unenrolled students of 21,730, or 34.91% of the total number initially projected,” he said. declared Roger Aymar ANDELY. 

The latter specified that this is a mid-term assessment of the biometric student enrollment campaign at the NIU, with a view to reliably controlling the number of the national student population.
