On Wednesday March 29, 2023 in Brazzaville, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Jean-Baptiste Ondaye, assisted by his advisers, received in audience the Director General of the Africa Department of the French Development Agency (AFD), Christian Yoka .

The progress of the project for the drainage of rainwater and the improvement of five natural collectors in the precarious neighborhoods of Brazzaville (capital of the Republic of Congo) was at the center of the discussions.

This project, which has received funding of 62 million Euros since July 2015, has encountered some difficulties in its execution. But he is recovering.

Indeed, during the project supervision mission, three conditions should be met to continue the project in phase 2, devoted to collectors linked to the Tsiémé River.

The first condition was to set up a Coordination team within the Ministry of Planning in charge of the specific monitoring of this project. The Project Coordinator has been appointed and the rest of the team members are being assembled.

The second condition was to open an escrow account for the compensation of expropriated persons and to fund this account at a minimum amount. This condition has been met.

The third condition was to set up a commission to monitor the payment of expropriations. This Commission has been set up and is under the control of the Chief of Staff of the Minister of Economy and Finance.
