Directorate General of National Financial Institutions (DGIFN) - A new Insurance company moves to Congo.

The cabinet director of the Ministry of Finance and Budget, Henri Loundou, officially launched the activities of a new Insurance company, called Africaine des Assurances Congo (AAC). The ceremony was held on Thursday 13 December 2018 in Brazzaville (Republic of Congo).

 

Several Directors and Board Chairs of Insurance companies took part in this ceremony, which had four speeches. In particular, those of the General Manager of AAC, Dominique Sodjinou and the Board chair.

 Then, that of the Director General of the National Financial Institutions of Congo-Brazzaville, Constant Badia, who, through this technical body (DGIFN), manages the Insurance sector by accompanying its development, through, among other things, the taking into account of insurers' concerns; the sustainability of their activities by strengthening control; the participation to various debates on issues of concerns, such as the taxation of reinsurance premiums, health insurance and many other similar issues.  “Yourarrival is not only a source of job creation, but also and above all, a contribution of your experience and expertise, fostering another way of doing things, another vision of business in compliance with the regulation. And, this is a sure bet to boost our insurance sector”, Constant Badia said.

The cabinet director, representing the Minister of Finance and Budget, said in his speech, that “the Public-Private partnership (PPP)is an attractive and investment-friendly link . And, in this perspective, the insurance sector, which is an important pillar of our economy, plays a key role in the collection of savings and the financing of economic activities".   

As an indicator, the Congolese insurance market currently has eight insurance companies, including two life insurance companies and six non-life insurance companies. 

The turnover generated by the insurance sector was more than 60 billion F CFA in 2017, compared with just over 65 billion F CFA in 2016.
