12 Oct, 2020

On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of La Congolaise de gestion et de loterie, société anonyme (COGELO S.A), Guy Roger Moigni, its Managing Director, held a press conference on Monday 12 October 2020 at the company's headquarters in Brazzaville. He announced a three-year Strategic Development Plan to save the company.

This Plan, he said, will run from January 2021. It comprises four components: technical, commercial, financial and human. It will be accompanied by a budgeted and timed Action Plan for better monitoring and assessment.

The speaker specified that the Strategic Development Plan will be drawn up after the diagnosis, currently underway, of the ills that are undermining the company. "Cogelo is going through a difficult situation in all areas of its activity. Its financial situation is unstable and deteriorated; the company's assets are not under control; the situation of third parties is confused; relations with banks and external partners, which are very deteriorated, are not relations of trust; turnover has been declining since 2014... In short, this situation is due to several management errors committed in the past, notably the lack of a clear vision of the company's future and the role it should play in the community," he hammered.

According to him, his vision is rather clear, because he knows the house even before the beginning of its activities, which date back to October 12, 1991. He has seen the passage of all the Directors General. He knows the company, he has the solution, with the support of many executives who share his vision. His ambition is to make COGELO the leader in gambling in Congo, in a context of competition. In this regard, he says he is advocating to the public authorities to have a law governing gambling in Congo adopted by Parliament.

With regard to the four months' salary arrears, Guy Roger Moigni said that "the most important problem is not the payment of the four months, but rather the effort we are making at the moment for the regular payment of salaries".
