AN IDENTIFICATION MISSION FOR THE SECOND BUDGET SUPPORT OPERATION IS STAYING IN BRAZZAVILLE
13 Feb, 2023

From Monday February 13 to Tuesday February 21, 2023, a team from the World Bank (WB) is staying in Brazzaville (Republic of Congo), for an identification mission with a view to preparing the second budget support operation of this international financial institution of Bretton Woods for the Republic of Congo. This mission was received at an initial meeting by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Jean-Baptiste ONDAYE, and his colleague from the Budget, Public Accounts and Public Portfolio, Ludovic NGATSE.

It comes after the 1st budget support operation, signed on Monday, December 19, 2022 in Brazzaville. The World Bank team will discuss with the Congolese party about the measures adopted during this first operation, as well as the possibilities of support and monitoring from the World Bank to implement these measures, and thus pave the way for the second operation.

To do this, for a week, the World Bank team and experts from several ministries and other Congolese institutions will discuss many topics, such as the business climate; non-oil revenue mobilization; mobilization of revenue from the oil sector; public procurement; gas flaring and the macroeconomic framework for 2026.

The restitution of the preliminary discussions and conclusions to this Mission will be made on the last day to the Minister of Economy and Finance, Jean-Baptiste ONDAYE.
